Alexis Uzoaru“With aspirations to be a lawyer, I knew it was important to build a strong resume during my undergraduate studies. Monmouth gives you close access to your professors, who are well connected in their industry, and who truly want to help. Through the Washington semester program, I was able to secure a position with the National Legal Aid & Defender Association—the oldest and largest national, nonprofit membership organization devoted to advocating equal justice for all Americans. This accomplishment was only possible with the resources provided by Monmouth.

Perhaps the most vital resource Monmouth provided for me was my Track & Field coach, who is my mentor. As a student-athlete, I strove for excellence both in the classroom and in competition. My coach taught me a wide range of skills including a strong work ethic, kindness, respect for others, and most importantly, finding joy in the process.

These amazing experiences would not have been possible without the many members of the Monmouth community that made my time as a student possible. I will remain forever grateful to those who invested in my success through scholarships and grants, easing the financial burden of higher education for me and for my family. That support inspires me to give back as an alumna. I know that ‘it takes a village,’ and I hope you will join me in supporting the success of future Hawks. Please make a difference by making a gift.”
